PSAT/NMSQT INFORMATION FOR CONNETQUOT HIGH SCHOOL

(Updated: August 18, 2026)

The college search and application process often includes standardized assessments such as the PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, and/or ACT. Students are encouraged to begin the process by speaking with their high school guidance counselor about college planning, including which assessments may be appropriate for them.

The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized assessment for students in grades 10 and 11 that measures reading, writing, and mathematics skills. The assessment provides students with an opportunity to practice for the SAT and, for eligible students, serves as the qualifying assessment for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Recommended Participation

  • Grade 10: Connetquot High School recommends that students in Grade 10 who are enrolled in Algebra Honors or Pre-Calculus consider taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
  • Grade 11: Students in Grade 11 are encouraged to consider taking the PSAT/NMSQT as part of their college planning and preparation.

Students must apply separately for testing accommodations through the appropriate testing organization. Please review the information and application procedures provided in the links below for College Board and ACT testing accommodations.

The district deadline to apply for PSAT/NMSQT testing accommodations is Friday, August 28, 2026.

Students and families with questions about the PSAT/NMSQT, registration, or testing accommodations should contact their high school guidance counselor.

ACT

ACT is committed to serving examinees with documented disabilities by providing reasonable accommodations appropriate to the examinee's diagnosis and needs. ACT has established policies regarding documentation of an examinee’s disability.

If you currently receive accommodations in school due to a professionally diagnosed and documented disability, see the ACT Policy for Accommodations Documentation (PDF), which will prepare you and guide you through the process of requesting test accommodations on the ACT test.

ACT recognizes the need to expand access to English learners. Beginning in the fall of 2017, ACT will provide supports on the ACT test to U.S. students who are English learners. These supports are designed to improve access and equity for those students whose proficiency in English might prevent them from fully demonstrating the skills and knowledge they have learned in school. The number of English learners is growing in our country and ACT is committed to improve access and opportunity for them and all under served learners.

If you currently receive supports in school due to limited English proficiency, see the ACT Policy for English Learner Supports Documentation, which will prepare you and guide you through the process of requesting English learner supports on the ACT test.
